Takahashi Replaces Rins at San Marino Grand Prix

The LCR Honda team competing in the MotoGP World Championship announced on Wednesday that Japanese rider Takumi Takahashi will replace Alex Rins at the San Marino Grand Prix next weekend as the Spanish racer continues his recovery from injury. Rins, who has won six races in the World Championship, including the Texas race this season, is currently recovering from surgery after sustaining a fractured right leg during a race in Italy last June. Rins (27 years old) is set to replace Italian rider Franco Morbidelli at Yamaha next season. Takahashi, 33, who serves as a test rider for Honda Racing, previously participated as a wildcard at the Motegi circuit in Japan during the MotoGP World Championship in 2015.
