The Prime Ministers of Spain and Ireland called on the European Commission today, Wednesday, for an urgent review of Israel's compliance with its human rights obligations in Gaza. In a joint statement published by the Spanish government, they expressed "deep concern about the deteriorating situation in Israel and Gaza. The extensive Israeli military operation in the Rafah area poses a serious and imminent threat that the international community must urgently address." The statement also noted, "We remember the horror of October 7 and call for the release of all hostages and an immediate ceasefire to facilitate the delivery of much-needed humanitarian supplies."
