The US Treasury Department announced on its website that "the sanctions imposed by the United States on the Houthi group due to its connection to attacks on commercial ships in the Red Sea took effect today, Friday." The US government had stated last month that it would re-list the Yemeni group as a terrorist organization in an effort to stop attacks on international shipping.
