The Ministry of Environment today warned "of a significant increase in the fire risk index in the coming days, particularly on Thursday, where a noticeable rise in fire risk is expected in the Akkar region and the southern part of Lebanon from the Aley District to Bint Jbeil, passing through the districts of Jezzine and Nabatieh." The ministry noted in a statement that "the dry weather, rising temperatures, and lower humidity levels create an ideal situation for increasing the risk of fires and the rapid spread of flames. It is extremely important for everyone in these areas, as well as in other regions of Lebanon, to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions to prevent fires."
The ministry provided "some essential steps and guidelines that citizens should consider:
1. Avoid lighting fires outdoors, including burning agricultural waste and grass.
2. Dispose of your cigarettes and any other flammable materials responsibly, cleanly, and safely.
3. Immediately report any signs of smoke or fire to the relevant authorities."
