The International Energy Agency (IEA) announced to Reuters on Wednesday that it "plans to advance the release of its first oil demand forecasts for 2025 to April, two to three months earlier than its usual date," following the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries' (OPEC) release of its forecasts six months prior. OPEC and IEA demand forecasts are closely monitored, as their monthly reports can influence oil prices and provide insights into the assumptions behind OPEC's supply policies. Toril Boasson from the IEA stated in response to questions from Reuters, "We intend to publish the 2025 forecasts in April, unlike June/July as before." She added, "The reason for this is that we will publish the medium-term forecasts in June, so we moved up the date to avoid overlap and to have the first detailed view of 2025 before looking ahead to 2030."
