Tunisia: Fraud Network Exploits Places of Worship for Fundraising

Units of the National Guard in the Tunisian city of Tataouine have uncovered a network specialized in fraud, taking advantage of places of worship. The network managed to collect financial donations from worshippers for the restoration and repair of places of worship without issuing them receipts. One of its members was arrested, and an amount of 18,000 Tunisian dinars and financial transfers amounting to 5,000 dinars were seized. The city’s public prosecutor ordered the necessary legal actions regarding the incident.
