During his meeting with the heads of parliamentary committees and rapporteurs, Speaker Nabih Berri asked, "Given what is happening in the region and the escalation of Israeli aggression against Palestine, Gaza, and Lebanon, are we presented with an opportunity to elect a President of the Republic, and will we seize it?"
In the session to elect the legislative committee and committees, the Public Works Committee and the Foreign Affairs Committee were elected by acclamation, along with the election of two secretaries, three commissioners, and members of the parliamentary committees. The parliament renewed the Financial and Budget Committee headed by MP Ibrahim Kanaan by acclamation, with no changes in its members.
The parliament also renewed the Economy, Trade, and Industry Committee headed by MP Farid Boustani by acclamation, with changes in the committee's members, as MP Michel Daher resigned from membership, and MP Waddah Sadek was elected as a member of the committee.
During the session, Head of the "Kataeb" Party, MP Sami Gemayel, remarked, "We are on the brink of war, and it is unacceptable for MPs not to take a stance on what is happening in the South, while the government remains submissive." Berri responded, saying, "We can schedule a special session if you wish; this session is designated for elections."
