Putin: Moscow Will Host the Eurasian Economic Union Summit Next Year

Russian President Vladimir Putin announced today, Monday, that the leaders of the Eurasian Economic Union agreed to hold the tenth summit of the union in Moscow in 2024. Putin noted that in 2024, it will have been ten years since the fundamental treaty of the Eurasian Economic Union was signed. He added during an expanded meeting of the Supreme Economic Council of the Eurasian Union: "Everyone agreed to my proposal to hold a summit dedicated to this anniversary in Moscow in May 2024." The Eurasian Economic Union includes Russia, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan, with an estimated market of about 190 million consumers. The union was established in 2015 based on the customs union that existed at that time between Russia, Belarus, and Kazakhstan, with Armenia and Kyrgyzstan joining in the same year.
