The Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, received a phone call today, Tuesday, from U.S. President Joe Biden to discuss the latest developments in Gaza and the ongoing joint mediation efforts to calm the situation in the besieged enclave and reach a permanent ceasefire. Qatar and Egypt played mediating roles between Israel and Hamas in the truce reached in late November, during which Hamas released 110 women, children, and foreigners in exchange for the release of 240 women and young Palestinians from Israeli prisons.
