The Syrian Ministry of Transport announced the resumption of air transport at Aleppo Airport starting from the morning of Friday, following a halt due to an Israeli airstrike. This information was reported by Syrian state media on Thursday. The ministry also called on all airlines to reschedule their incoming and outgoing flights and stated that the airport is ready to receive relief aid planes for earthquake victims around the clock.
Israeli airstrikes targeted Aleppo Airport early Tuesday, causing material damage that led to its suspension according to the Syrian Ministry of Defense. The official Syrian news agency SANA reported that "at 2:07 AM today, the Israeli enemy carried out an air aggression from the direction of the Mediterranean Sea west of Latakia targeting Aleppo International Airport," marking the first attack on this airport following the devastating earthquake that struck Syria and neighboring Turkey on February 6.
Additionally, the Syrian Ministry of Transport stated last Tuesday that it had decided to divert incoming relief aid planes linked to the earthquake to Damascus and Latakia airports. Aleppo International Airport is a primary destination for humanitarian aid flights that have poured into the country after the earthquake.
