Lebanon's First Beirut MPs Call for Reduction of Syrian Displacement in the Region

The MPs of Beirut I, Ghassan Hasbani, Nicolas Sahnaoui, Nadim Gemayel, Hagop Terzian, Jihad Baqradouni, and Jean Talouzian, met to discuss the presence of illegal Syrian migrants in the area. The attendees stated in a communiqué the "necessity for relevant authorities to strictly enforce the law, particularly regarding the following points: 1 - Violations related to commercial and residential leases. 2 - Illegal employment. 3 - Large gatherings and illegal motorcycle riding. 4 - Mandatory registration of lease contracts at the municipality. 5 - Verification of residency permits." They also emphasized the "importance of municipal leaders being stringent in housing-related transactions and other matters concerning Syrians." They decided to follow up on this issue with the relevant authorities and officials through practical steps that will be announced in due time, and to continue until the region is free of violations.
