Saudi teacher Noora Hadi Al-Sarour from the Education Department in Najran has won the global "Varkey" award as one of the top 50 outstanding teachers in the world for 2023. She was selected from 7,000 nominees from teachers around the world, representing 130 countries. Her recognition took place during a ceremony held last week at UNESCO.
The World's Best Teacher Award is an international accolade dedicated to education, granted by the Varkey Foundation in partnership with UNESCO, to acknowledge the importance of education as a profession and to encourage excellence in the field.
Teacher Noora Al-Sarour expressed her pride and honor regarding this achievement, which she attributes to God's grace and the support and attention of wise leadership towards education, as well as motivating teachers and students to elevate the Kingdom's name in global arenas. She noted that this achievement serves as a motivation to exert more effort and work towards attaining further accomplishments.
It is noteworthy that throughout her professional journey, she has achieved numerous accolades that have represented her nation globally, the most recent being first place for the best work in educational technology design in the Middle East, two gold awards for innovation in Russia and Japan, the Global Educational Communication Award, where she secured second place internationally in Seattle, USA, the Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award, the Humanitarian Educational Excellence Award from the Islamic World Council (ICDR), among other awards. Additionally, she has participated with papers and research in various local, regional, and international forums, conferences, and exhibitions and is a member of various local and international organizations and institutions in both educational and humanitarian fields.
