The Hezbollah Brigades in Iraq stated that "the bloodshed and violation of sovereignty faced by Iraqis is not surprising given the criminal record of the American occupying forces, which has extended from their invasion of the country, through their support for ISIS gangs, to their targeting of Popular Mobilization fighters and victory leaders, culminating in today’s crime of assassinating the Deputy Commander of the Baghdad Belt Operations, Brigade 12 of the Popular Mobilization, the martyr leader Mushtaq Talib Al-Saidi (Abu Taqwa) and his companion near the Iraqi Ministry of Interior in Baghdad." They announced that "the Islamic resistance has recognized the wicked American role in Iraq and the region and has worked to confront it throughout its jihadist journey, and it will continue to face the enemies to thwart their schemes aimed at subjugating our proud people, undermining their security, and plundering their wealth, in service of their interests in the region."
