Lebanon: Public Sector Employees Announce Return to Work

The gathering of public sector employees announced their return to work tomorrow, Monday. In a statement, they said: "Based on the confirmation from the Ministers of Finance and Labor that there is serious intent to issue the productivity decree soon, and after the Minister of Finance confirmed that the decree will take effect from the first of December, as well as a series of communications conducted by the gathering with several ministers and general directors, and after consulting with representatives of the ministries, and out of our commitment to positive engagement as we are not advocates of disruption, and in order to preserve the employees' rights to benefit from the daily allowance for each actual attendance, as is known from the content of the draft decree, the gathering announces the return to work tomorrow, Monday, awaiting the developments regarding the decree in the coming week to act accordingly." The gathering expressed hope that "the government will show the same concern for the good functioning of public administrations, which are a fundamental pillar of the state."
