Title: Two Counterfeit Currency Distributors Arrested by Information Branch in a Targeted Operation

The General Directorate of Internal Security Forces - Public Relations Division issued the following statement: "As part of the ongoing efforts by the internal security forces to combat fraud in various Lebanese regions, particularly the promotion of counterfeit currency, and following surveillance carried out by the Information Branch patrols in areas where such crimes are prevalent—especially after a photo of two suspects allegedly promoting counterfeit currency circulated on social media in different areas of Tripoli and Zgharta—orders were given to the branch's patrols to identify and apprehend the individuals involved.

After thorough investigations conducted by the branch's personnel, they were able to identify the suspects, who are Lebanese nationals: R. T. (born in 1965) and F. M. (born in 1976). On January 8, 2024, after precise tracking, the branch's patrols managed to arrest them on Al-Mi'atin Street - Tripoli and seized /1,200/ counterfeit US dollars from their possession. During the investigation, they confessed to the charges against them, and several individuals who fell victim to them were summoned and managed to identify them. Legal procedures were initiated against them, and they, along with the seized items, were referred to the competent authorities based on the judicial directive."
