Kuwait Oil Company Deputy Director General Shaima Al-Ghanim announced today, Wednesday, that the Durra gas field is expected to be fully operational by 2029. Al-Ghanim mentioned at the Baker Institute's Center for Energy Studies that Kuwait is committed to OPEC+ directives and will not produce above its quota. She stated that Kuwait intends to have enough reserves to ensure supply adequacy if necessary. Kuwait is expanding its production capacity and is expected to be capable of producing three million barrels per day by 2025, up from the current 2.8 million. Iran has criticized an agreement to develop the field that was signed by Kuwait and Saudi Arabia last year, claiming it has a stake in it. The Durra field has approximately 20 trillion cubic feet of proven reserves.
