Turkey Withdraws from Bid to Host Euro 2028

Reports have confirmed that Turkey has withdrawn from the race to host the UEFA Euro 2028 Championship. The European Football Association (UEFA) announced in April that it had received three bids for hosting the Euro 2028 and 2032 tournaments. The United Kingdom, including England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland, submitted a joint bid with Ireland to host Euro 2028, competing against a separate bid from Turkey. Italy has also bid to host Euro 2032, competing against another Turkish bid for that tournament.

According to Sky Sports, Turkey has officially withdrawn from the bidding process for Euro 2028, as confirmed by UEFA, leaving the UK and Ireland's bid as the sole contender. The report suggests that Turkey may join Italy in a joint bid to organize Euro 2032. UEFA is scheduled to certify the UK and Ireland as hosts for Euro 2028, along with Italy and Turkey for Euro 2032 next week.

England has proposed various stadiums, including Wembley, the new Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, the Emirates, St. James' Park, Everton's stadium, and Villa Park to host matches for Euro 2028, while Anfield and the famous Old Trafford have been excluded. The UEFA European Championship 2024 is set to take place in Germany next year.
