The State Security Directorate reported that "in its efforts to continue combating fraud, and after receiving information about a Syrian national creating a website named 'account.elontrad.net', which misled dozens of individuals into believing they could earn financial profits through investment, the regional directorate in the south of State Security detained the Syrian (S.A.), who confessed during the investigation that he was deceiving a number of people into depositing amounts ranging from $2,000 to $5,000 on his website, in exchange for receiving the same amount back after a period. The detainee deleted the website and closed all his accounts after obtaining a substantial amount of money from citizens."
