As the bloody war between Israel and armed factions in Gaza enters its third week, the Israeli army dropped flyers in Gaza today, Tuesday, urging Palestinians to provide information about the hostages held by Hamas. They offered protection and a financial reward in return. Hamas militants have taken over 200 individuals during surprise attacks across the border into Israel, resulting in the deaths of 1,400 people on October 7th. The Palestinian Ministry of Health states that Israeli airstrikes on Gaza have since killed around 5,800 people and injured approximately 18,000 others.
The military's flyer stated: "If you want a better future for yourselves and your children, do good and send us reliable and useful information about the abductees in your area." It added, "The Israel Defense Forces promise to make every effort to ensure your safety and the safety of your homes, as well as a financial reward. We guarantee complete confidentiality."
The flyer contained phone numbers to call for providing information. People seeking refuge in Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis, in southern Gaza, collected these flyers and tore them up after they were dropped by Israeli planes.
