Russia: Any External Intervention in Niger Will Not Improve the Situation

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov stated today, Friday, that it is unlikely that any intervention in Niger's affairs from external powers, such as the United States, will improve the situation following the military coup in the African nation. Peskov told reporters, "It is unlikely that intervention by external powers will change the situation for the better."

He added, "We are closely monitoring the situation, we are concerned about the state of tension in Niger, and we still wish to see a swift return to normal constitutional order without endangering people's lives."

On another note, a spokesperson for the German Foreign Ministry revealed that pro-Russian propaganda has increased in Niger since the military coup that ousted the democratically elected government last month. During a regular press conference in Berlin, the spokesperson mentioned that a disinformation campaign is ongoing, and Russian flags have been distributed in Niger in recent days.
