The Vatican announced today, Tuesday, that Pope Francis, who is recovering from pneumonia, will attend the COP28 climate summit in Dubai as scheduled. Vatican spokesman Matteo Bruni stated during a press conference regarding the three-day trip, which starts on Friday, that "Pope Francis will deliver one of the key speeches on Saturday and will hold bilateral meetings that same day with about 30 individuals, including around 20 heads of state." Bruni mentioned, "Pope Francis is in good health," adding that the Vatican will decide before the trip whether additional precautions are needed to ensure the health of Pope Francis, who is 86 years old. He continued, "Everything is normal for papal trips, and a doctor will accompany him... as usual."
