Pentagon Reveals Identities of Soldiers Killed in Jordan, Including Two Women

The U.S. Department of Defense, known as the Pentagon, has revealed the identities of three reservist soldiers who were killed at the American base in Jordan on Sunday. The Biden administration stated that the incident was caused by a drone attack from a militia backed by Iran. According to the New York Times, the Pentagon reported that at least 34 other service members were injured in the attack on Tower 22. All of the deceased soldiers were from Georgia: Sergeant William Jerome Rivers (46 years old), Private Kennedy Ladon Sanders (24 years old), and Private Breonna Alexandrea Moffett (23 years old). The soldiers, including two women, were assigned to the 718th Engineer Company, based at Fort Moore in Georgia. This unit comprises soldiers trained for rapid deployment to build roads, landing zones, and protective earthen barriers for U.S. forces. Tower 22, the targeted site, is located in a strategically important area in northeastern Jordan, at the intersection of the country's borders with Syria and Iraq. This tower is close enough to U.S. forces in Al-Tanf to provide support, as well as assist in combating Iranian-backed militants in the region and help monitor the remnants of ISIS members.
