Ukraine Thwarts Attempt by Russian Group to Cross Its Northern Border

Ukrainian Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko indicated that "Ukraine thwarted an attempt by a group of Russians to cross its northern border last night." Klymenko stated, "Last night, in the Chernihiv region, border guards stopped an attempt by a hostile reconnaissance and sabotage group to cross the state border of Ukraine within the Semenivka settlement." He added, "Four individuals were spotted moving from Russian territory," noting that "reserve forces from the border guards and the Ukrainian Armed Forces were deployed in the area." The Commander of the Joint Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Serhiy Naiev, stated that "four armed individuals attempted to cross the border, but they were repelled by Ukrainian fire."
