The Navy Recognition website reported that "China is working on a project to develop unmanned military submarines." According to the site, "each of the new JARI-USV-A Chinese submarines will be 58 meters long, 23 meters wide, and will displace 420 tons of water. They will be equipped with engines that operate on diesel and electricity, allowing them to undertake short- and medium-range missions."
These submarines will possess the capability to perform various tasks autonomously, including reconnaissance and maritime patrol missions. They can be modified in different ways to suit the tasks they will undertake. Available information indicates that "the submarines will be armed with a variety of weapons, including machine guns and anti-ship missiles, as well as torpedoes and missiles for engaging aerial targets. They will be capable of transporting payloads weighing up to 70 tons and moving at speeds of 42 nautical knots, in addition to having stealth capabilities against enemy radar and sonar systems."
These submarines will also be able to operate collectively with warships and other unmanned submarines, and will be equipped with equipment for coordination and communication with maritime platforms.
