A spokesperson for the Israeli army confirmed to CNN today, Sunday, that Israel will begin "large military operations" in Gaza as soon as it is ensured that civilians have left for the southern part of the territory. Spokesperson Jonathan Conricus stated, "We will launch large military operations very soon." He added, "It is important for the residents of Gaza to know that we have been extremely generous with time, giving them over 25 hours' warning before execution. The time has come for the residents of Gaza to leave."
He emphasized, "Our message to the people of Gaza is to take your belongings and head south, and do not fall into the trap set by Hamas." The spokesperson also confirmed that hundreds of thousands of Israeli reservists are gathering around the Gaza Strip, preparing for various missions. The Israeli army said yesterday, Saturday, that it is preparing to execute a comprehensive air, naval, and ground attack on Gaza, as the suffering of civilians has intensified in a conflict that has entered its second week.
The deadline given by the Israeli army to more than a million Palestinians to leave the northern half of the territory and head south expired yesterday morning. In a statement on Saturday evening, it noted: "The ground arm and the technology and logistics division are now preparing the army forces to escalate the combat."
It also added, "Forward logistics centers have been established to allow combat forces to move and equip themselves quickly in a way that adapts to their needs." Furthermore, it stated that "in recent days, the necessary combat tools have been transferred to the troop concentrations, and at this stage, various units of the technology and logistics division are completing the preparation of advanced tools and equipment."
