The Border Ports Authority announced today, Saturday, the seizure of eight hawks prepared for smuggling at the Safwan border crossing adjacent to Kuwait in the possession of a foreign traveler. The authority stated in a statement that "the Safwan border crossing directorate was able to apprehend a foreign traveler who was found in possession of eight hawks intended for smuggling from Iraq to a neighboring country," noting that "the hawks were cleverly hidden inside his car." It added that "the seizure operation was carried out by the Border Ports Authority units in cooperation with supporting agencies." The statement indicated that "a committee was formed, and a proper seizure report was organized, transferring the confiscated items along with the suspect and the vehicle to the Safwan Customs Police Station to take appropriate legal action against them."
