Senegalese national team star Sadio Mane sent an emotional message to his teammates in the "Lions of Teranga" and his supporters after missing the chance to participate in the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. Senegal's head coach, Aliou Cisse, included Mane's name in the squad for the Qatar World Cup despite his foot injury, before announcing to the medical staff of the "Lions of Teranga" just days before the tournament's kickoff that he would miss the event due to the need for surgery.
Mane posted a message on his official Instagram account, stating: "Good evening everyone, many of you have sent me messages trying to support me after my injury." The Bayern Munich forward added, "Thank God, the surgery went well in the middle of the week, and I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all and express my gratitude."
Mane continued: "On Monday, our beloved country will compete in the Qatar 2022 World Cup, and I am confident that the Lions will overcome every match and treat each game as a real final. I believe that all Senegalese will be in front of their screens supporting and cheering for our brave national team."
He concluded his message at the age of 30 by saying: "Like all fans of the 'Lions of Teranga', I am convinced that my teammates will fight as one man, as they always do, to honor our dear country, Senegal. Long live Senegal, go Lions!" It is worth mentioning that the Senegal national team will begin their World Cup journey against the Netherlands in the first round of Group A, which also includes Qatar and Ecuador.
