Johnson in Beirut on January 11

As Lebanon enters the holiday season and interest in political matters declines, there will be a special focus in the second week of the new year on the new American ambassador to Lebanon, Lisa Johnson, who will succeed Ambassador Dorothy Shea. Information from MTV indicates that Ambassador Johnson will not arrive in Lebanon on January 5, as reported by some media outlets; instead, she will hold a final meeting in Washington before coming to Beirut on the 9th of the month. She will leave the United States on the 10th and arrive in Lebanon the following day, on January 11. It is worth noting that Johnson will serve as the Chargé d'Affaires at the American Embassy in Beirut until she presents her credentials to the next president, at which point she will officially hold the title of ambassador.
