A double murder has shaken the Jordanian community, resulting in the deaths of an elderly man and a woman in her thirties in less than 24 hours, with the perpetrator being a man in his thirties for reasons that remain unknown. The spokesperson for the Public Security Directorate of Jordan, Colonel Amer Al-Sartawi, stated that a security force from the Criminal Investigation Department managed to arrest the perpetrator of the two murders that occurred last Saturday in the areas of Wadi Al-Sir and Ain Al-Basha in the capital, Amman.
In the details of the first murder, a report was received early Saturday morning about the owner of a commercial store in Wadi Al-Sir being shot while inside his shop by an unknown individual. The elderly man passed away upon arrival at the hospital, and an investigation was opened into the incident. Surveillance cameras inside the store captured the shooter entering the store, revealing the owner's visible signs of anxiety and suspicion, as he asked someone to stay with him inside the shop due to his suspicion of the person who had just entered.
The perpetrator went to the refrigerator and brought a juice box to distract the owner before he pulled out his gun, which had initially misfired, and shot the store owner, killing him instantly. Security forces disseminated the shooter's image and began searching for him. However, on the following morning, a woman in the Ain Al-Basha area was fired upon by a person later identified as the same individual who committed the previous murder, and she also soon succumbed to her injuries.
The spokesperson further stated that through investigations, the identity of the shooter was established, and after searching for him, his location in the Ramimin area was determined. He was subsequently raided and arrested, with the firearm used in the crime seized, and an investigation with him has commenced.
