The U.S. ambassador to Baghdad, Alina Romanowski, emphasized the importance of having an independent judiciary that follows legal procedures and bases its decisions on the Iraqi constitution. Romanowski expressed her welcome in a post on X (formerly Twitter) regarding her meeting with the head of the Iraqi Judicial Council, Faiq Zidan, noting that they discussed "recent developments and the security situation in Iraq."
Additionally, a statement from the Iraqi judiciary indicated that Zidan received Romanowski and discussed "cooperation between the two countries on legal matters of mutual interest." Following that, the U.S. ambassador announced her meeting with Speaker of the House Muhammad al-Halbousi to "understand the recent developments and the security situation in Iraq," according to a post on X.
Subsequently, al-Halbousi discussed the political developments in the country and the details of the Federal Court's decision with the Turkish ambassador to Iraq, Ali Riza Konay. At that time, al-Halbousi also received the Iraqi president, Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, and discussed with him the political developments and the specifics of the Federal Supreme Court's decision and its alignment with constitutional articles.
