The Israeli Ministry of Transport announced today, Tuesday, that it is trying to clarify the decision of the Chinese shipping company COSCO regarding reports of a suspension of shipments to Israel. In response to an inquiry from "Reuters," the Israeli Ministry of Transport stated: "The Shipping and Ports Administration is working with relevant parties to clarify the announcement by the Chinese shipping company about halting navigation to Israel." Israeli media reported this week that COSCO has indeed suspended shipments to Israel, but the company has not yet commented. Shipping routes in the Red Sea have been disrupted due to attacks carried out by the Houthis in solidarity with "Hamas." Activity at the small Israeli port of Eilat on the Red Sea has significantly decreased since the onset of Houthi attacks in November; however, this has had little impact on the local market, as most of the country's trade occurs via the Mediterranean Sea.
