Russian President Vladimir Putin affirmed that during the election of the head of state, Russians should not only cast their votes but also speak firmly about their wills and aspirations. In his speech to the Russians before the presidential elections, broadcasted on Channel One, Putin stated: "You should not only vote but also speak assertively about your will and aspirations, and about your personal participation in the continued development of Russia, because elections are a step towards the future." The Federation Council of Russia has set the date for the presidential elections on March 17, 2024. Voting will last for three days: March 15, 16, and 17. Four candidates registered with the Central Election Commission of Russia are competing for the head of state position: Leonid Slutsky, Nikolai Kharitonov, Vladislav Davankov, and Vladimir Putin.
