The Houthis in Yemen have pledged to "continue sinking British ships in the Gulf of Aden" following the sinking of the cargo ship Rubymar, owned by a British company. Hussein Al-Ezzi, the deputy foreign minister in the Houthi-led government, stated that "Yemen will continue to sink more British ships, and any repercussions or damage will be added to Britain's bill as a rogue state that attacks Yemen and collaborates with the US in perpetuating the ongoing crimes against civilians in Gaza."
The US military reported yesterday that the Rubymar sank after being struck by an anti-ship ballistic missile launched by the Houthis on February 18. Al-Ezzi further emphasized that those who harm Yemen will face consequences.
The United States and Britain began targeting Houthi positions in Yemen in January in response to attacks on ships in the Red Sea.
