Zelensky Legalizes Marijuana Use

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky signed a law today, Thursday, legalizing the use of medical cannabis (marijuana) in the country. A statement published on the Ukrainian parliament's website noted: "The president signed a draft law regulating the trade of cannabis plants for medical, industrial, and scientific purposes, to create conditions for expanding patients' access to necessary treatment for cancer and post-traumatic disorders resulting from the war." In December 2023, the Ukrainian parliament adopted the draft law regarding the legalization of medical cannabis, and Zelensky has repeatedly stressed the need for its acceptance. The law will come into effect six months after its official publication.
