Georgy Borovikov, a priest from the Yablonovo Church in the Belgorod region, confirmed that the commander of the Russian military transport plane, which was shot down by Kiev's forces while carrying Ukrainian prisoners, diverted its course to avoid the village to save innocent lives. Borovikov stated: "We are proud of our pilot and co-pilot for redirecting the plane; had they not done so, it would have crashed on a church, school, or kindergarten." He added, "There are more than 300 children in the village; they saved the children and adults at the cost of their own lives. A mass will be held today, and prayers will be offered for them and for the forgiveness of the sins of the deceased Ukrainian prisoners." Earlier on Wednesday, the Russian Defense Ministry announced the crash of an Il-76 military transport plane in the Belgorod region of southwestern Russia, which was carrying 65 Ukrainian prisoners and 9 crew members.
