Iraqi Central Bank Denies Liquidity Issues with the Dinar

The Governor of the Central Bank of Iraq, Ali Alalak, denied on Friday that there is a problem with the liquidity of the Iraqi dinar. He also noted the imminent launch of a new mechanism for travelers to obtain dollars. Alalak stated in an interview with the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that "the rumors circulating about a liquidity issue with the Iraqi dinar are unfounded, and the Central Bank continues to respond to requests related to liquidity, along with the Ministry of Finance." He added that "the Central Bank is developing a mechanism for travelers to obtain dollars smoothly at Iraqi airports, some of which have completed the system with the presence of the relevant exchange companies and banks to distribute dollars." He indicated that "the new mechanism will come into effect soon, allowing travelers to obtain dollars by registering through the platform and receiving them at the airport to ensure that dollars reach the genuine traveler."
