French Minister of Defense and Armed Forces Sébastien Lecornu sent a message to caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati via the platform "X," stating: "Dear, Lebanon can rely on France's friendship. We provide and will continue to provide our support to the Lebanese Armed Forces and UNIFIL, as the stability of Lebanon is essential for the country and the region."
On Friday, Mikati met with Lecornu at the Grand Serail, where they emphasized the cooperation and close coordination between the army and UNIFIL, activating the international forces' missions, and the necessity of establishing calm along the Blue Line. Lecornu stressed the importance of rationality and wisdom among all parties in the south to avoid escalation and deterioration, confirming the urgent need to find a solution for the hostages in Gaza and the Palestinian issue.
The French minister informed the government that "France has decided to send urgent aid to the army, including medical equipment and medications." The meeting was attended by the French Ambassador to Lebanon Hervé Magro and the minister's accompanying delegation, as well as Mikati's diplomatic advisor, Ambassador Petros Assaker.
