Thousands of Protesters in Israel Continue to Press Netanyahu

Thousands of Israelis took to the streets in new protests across the country today, Saturday, following a week of unrest after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu advanced a law that limits the powers of the Supreme Court. Protesters flooded the streets this evening, waving flags, beating drums, and sounding horns in various locations throughout Israel, from a remote intersection amidst the green hills of the Galilee in the north to the streets of Tel Aviv. Yariv Shavit, an engineer in the technology sector, raised an Israeli flag among one of the protest gatherings, stating, "We all see no future if this continues. We are not united. We have lost our unity." Critics claim that Netanyahu is threatening the principles of democracy and judicial independence in Israel, potentially in light of a corruption case he faces. Netanyahu, on the other hand, denies this and rejects the allegations against him.
