Significant Decrease in Migrants to Italy

At least 6,560 migrants have arrived illegally in Italy from the beginning of the year until the 15th of this month, representing a decrease of 67.1% compared to the same period in 2023, when 19,937 migrants reached the Italian shores, according to data released by the Italian Ministry of the Interior. The data also indicates that nearly two-thirds of the total migrants came from Libya. Analyzing the departure countries of the boats shows that, unlike last year, the number of arrivals in Italy from Libya was significantly higher than those coming from Tunisia.
