The African Football Confederation (CAF) has suspended Morocco's national team coach, Walid Regragui, for four matches due to the events surrounding the encounter between the "Atlas Lions" and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. According to the sports network "beIN Sports," the CAF Disciplinary Committee has decided to suspend the Moroccan coach for four matches, two of which are suspended.
Additionally, Regragui has been fined following the incidents during the match between Morocco and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The Congolese Football Federation defended the account of its player Chancel Mbemba, who alleged that Regragui made racist remarks towards him during last Sunday’s match in the second round of the Africa Cup of Nations group stage.
CAF has called for an investigation into the incident and summoned both Regragui and player Mbemba, along with the match observer, to compare their statements with video footage and testimonies from those present during the incident. Regragui defended himself, asserting that the accusation of racism is baseless.
Regragui's suspension comes just before Morocco's match against Zambia, scheduled for this evening in the final round of Group C of the Africa Cup, knowing that the "Atlas Lions" have already secured their place in the knockout stage in the last round.
