Collapse of Supporting Wall Threatens Isolation of Towns in the Qalamoun Mountains

The National News Agency reported the collapse of another section of a supporting wall on the main road in the town of Al-Safeera in the upper Qalamoun Mountains, partially blocking traffic on the road. It was noted that a prior section of the wall collapsed a few days ago due to heavy rains, which rendered the entire wall at risk of collapse, isolating the town of Al-Safeera and the residents of six nearby towns and villages that use the road daily. The mayor of Al-Safeera, Ali Khadr Hassoun, called on the Minister of Public Works and Transport in the caretaker government, Ali Hamiyeh, and the Higher Relief Commission, along with concerned authorities, to urgently restore and rehabilitate the wall fully before it collapses, further isolating the residents of the towns who rely on the road in these harsh climatic and living conditions.
