Maronite Patriarch Bechara Al-Rahi emphasized in his Sunday sermon that "the reluctance and procrastination in electing a president leads to a casual disregard for the law by officials, allowing for selective interpretation that suits each one of them. The more serious issue arises when employees are replaced based on religious or sectarian grounds." He warned that delaying the election of a president "will lead to rampant chaos that allows officials to monopolize power to the point of tyranny and to overturn norms, posing a threat to national unity." He continued: "There are distortions in the constitution and coexistence, and Lebanon is on the verge of collapse, and the ceiling will collapse on everyone."
