"HAPAG-Lloyd" Welcomes Maritime Security Measures in the Red Sea

A spokesperson for the German shipping company "HAPAG-Lloyd" stated today, Friday, that "the company welcomes the measures aimed at securing the passage of cargo ships in the Red Sea, after the company incurred additional monthly costs estimated in the tens of millions of euros due to rerouting ships away from the area." The spokesperson told Reuters: "We do not comment on the events that occurred last night specifically... but we welcome the measures that will make transit through the Red Sea safe again." The United States and Britain carried out air and naval strikes overnight against military targets of the Houthis in Yemen. The attacks by the group on ships in the Red Sea prompted "HAPAG-Lloyd" and other shipping companies to avoid passing their vessels through the area.
