Israel to Participate in Security Meeting in Cairo Today

Israeli broadcasting authority has reported that the government has officially decided to participate in the security meeting in Cairo, which will take place today, Tuesday, with American, Egyptian, and Qatari participation, to discuss developments regarding a potential prisoner exchange deal between Hamas and Israel. This Israeli decision comes after several days of hesitation amid what Israelis described as Hamas's rigid positions regarding the exchange deal.

According to the authority, the Israeli delegation consists of Mossad chief David Barnea, Shin Bet chief Ronen Bar, and General Nitzan Alon. The meeting will also include CIA Director William Burns, Egyptian intelligence chief Abbas Kamel, and Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, as reported by the Arabic News Agency.

The authority added, citing political officials, that "Israel has drafted a new proposal regarding the release of hostages and completing a prisoner exchange deal with Hamas." The sources noted, "The new proposal has a certain degree of flexibility on Israel's part, hoping it will lead to a breakthrough in the negotiations."
