Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz stated today, Sunday, that "Israel has evacuated more than one million Palestinians from the north to the south, and will move them west before the Rafah operation." He added, "Now we need to move them west, and to other areas before the Rafah operation." Recently, regional and international warnings have escalated regarding the Israeli bombardment of Rafah in preparation for a ground invasion, highlighting the danger to hundreds of thousands of displaced people who have sought refuge there as it is considered their last shelter in the far south of the Gaza Strip. For his part, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken had previously urged Israel to prepare a plan for the evacuation of civilians from Rafah city in the Gaza Strip before any military operations are carried out there.
