The Japanese publishing house Shueisha announced today, Friday, the death of Akira Toriyama, the author of Japanese manga stories, known for famous works such as Dragon Ball and Dr. Slump, who passed away at the age of 68 due to a severe subdural hematoma on March 1. The Dragon Ball stories were first published in the Weekly Shonen Jump magazine in 1984 and were later adapted into a series of films, video games, and television series distributed in over 80 countries. Toriyama was also known for designing characters and monsters in the famous role-playing game series "Dragon Quest." One fan wrote on the official Dragon Ball website, "We will never forget Akira Toriyama for the gift he left on this earth. I can't imagine a world without Dragon Ball."
