Lille defeated Metz 2-0 at home, with the visitors missing two penalty kicks in an exciting match in Ligue 1 on Sunday. Yusuf Yazıcı opened the scoring for Lille in stoppage time of the first half, and then Jonathan David doubled the lead from a penalty shortly after, following a foul by Vali Candy.
Metz was awarded two penalties in each half to get back into the game, but goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier successfully saved both attempts. Simon Elisor missed the first penalty, which was awarded for a foul on Lenny Yoro by player Cheikh Sabaly.
Chevalier impeded Metz striker Elisor at the start of the second half, but he managed to save the second penalty taken by Lamine Kamara. Lille sits in fourth place with 26 points from 14 matches, seven points behind leaders Paris Saint-Germain, while Metz is in tenth place with 16 points.
