New Developments in the Sentencing of Nasreen Tafesh to 3 Years in Prison for Issuing Bounced Checks

The "Misdemeanor Court of October 6" will issue its verdict today, Monday, on the appeal of actress Nasreen Tafesh against her 3-year prison sentence for issuing a check without sufficient funds. The Syrian actress appeared in the previous session before the forensic medicine authority to be examined by forgery and counterfeiting experts, in order to prepare a technical report for the court.

The public prosecution has charged Nasreen Tafesh with having maliciously issued a check on January 30, 2023, in favor of the victim, Nashwa Safa Eldin, in the amount of 4 million Egyptian pounds. The case files indicated that Tafesh issued the check with bad intent, as the plaintiff went to the bank to cash it and was surprised that there were insufficient funds available, which the accused was aware of.

The defense for the plaintiff submitted a photocopy of bank checks dated the same day, including an order from the accused to the bank to pay the plaintiff the amount, signed by the accused, as well as a photocopy of the bank's rejection of the check due to insufficient funds. The "Misdemeanor Court of October" will announce its ruling today on Nasreen Tafesh's appeal against her 3-year prison sentence.
