Intensive Mediation Efforts by Qatar, the U.S., and Egypt Focus on a Month-Long Truce in Gaza

Three sources reported that "Israel and the Islamic Resistance Movement, Hamas, have largely agreed in principle on the possibility of exchanging Israeli hostages for Palestinian prisoners during a one-month truce." It was noted that "the proposal framework's introduction was delayed due to disagreements between the two sides on how to achieve a permanent end to the war in Gaza." The intensive mediation efforts led by Qatar, the U.S., and Egypt in recent weeks have focused on a gradual approach to releasing different categories of Israeli captives, starting from civilians to soldiers, in exchange for a cessation of hostilities, the release of Palestinian prisoners, and increased aid into Gaza.
