Pakistani Army: 23 Soldiers Killed in Attack by Militants

The Pakistani army stated that militants stormed a police station in northwest Pakistan today, Tuesday, using a vehicle loaded with explosives, resulting in the deaths of at least 23 soldiers. This attack is the latest in a series of assaults in recent months for which the Taliban Pakistan has claimed responsibility. The army's statement noted that the attack, which involved bombs and rifles, took place in the Dera Ismail Khan area, located on the outskirts of the tribal regions bordering Afghanistan. Earlier, two security officials reported that the death toll was 24. The Pakistani army was using the police station as a base of operations.
